Chatelaine, ormolu [gilded bronze] English c.1780. Four pendants [empty] A thimble holder, needle case, scissor case and cachou holder. The chatelaines were often sold empty then the client could choose tools that fitted them.
The decoration is beautifully crisp, showing Harlequin and Columbine figures from La Comedia dell‚Arte.
